Meet Our Staff
Get to know each of the faces behind the microphones on Psalm 99:5. Each of our staff members work hard both on air and behind the scenes to provide you with the quality music and programming you hear every day on Psalm 99:5.
Bruce Christopherson
Station Manager - bruce@psalm995.org
Bruce
began his radio career in west central Minnesota and received a call
to join the staff from the founder of the ministry, Dick Beals in early
1983. KBHW had signed on the air just a few months earlier, and in fact
Bruce and his wife Jennie had traveled through International Falls in
late December 1982 while on their honeymoon, not having any idea what plans
God had for them. Bruce will tell you that God's plans are far more exciting
and fulfilling than anything he could have chosen for himself!
In 1994 Bruce was placed in the responsibility of the management of KBHW. The variety of duties it takes to manage and grow this work keeps him involved in many aspects of radio - from Board meetings and budgets and occaisional 'on-air' times, to his first love: the technical side.
Bruce says the current expansion and growth at Psalm 99:5 is reminiscent of those exciting early days of this ministry, and he is looking forward to seeing what other things God has in store for both the ministry, and his life in service to God.
Tim Nelson
Morning Host - tim@psalm995.org
Tim
and his family have always lived in Illinois farm country, but
northern Minnesota is quickly becoming home for him and his family.
They really enjoy the natural beauty of the area.
Tim grew up in radio, and started his first job after his junior year of high school with a radio station owned by the Country/Gospel singing group "The Oak Ridge Boys." A couple of years later he attended Johnson Bible College in the Smoky Mountains near Knoxville, Tennessee where he met his wife Beth. They have two daughters, Katy and Elly.
When Tim isn't working he enjoys playing Frisbee, racquetball, walking/running, eating Mexican food and watching episodes of (what he calls one of the best television programs known to mankind) "The Andy Griffith Show".
Tim says, "It's a privilege to be working here at Psalm 99:5 with a staff that is committed to reaching people for Christ."
Dawn Nyborg
Administrative Secretary / Host of "The Vertical Connection" - dawn@psalm995.org
I've
been serving the Lord here at Psalm 99:5 since 1990. I began working weekends
(as a rookie) at the radio station after my oldest son (who was working here)
left to serve his next 6.5 years in the Air Force. I learned by rote all sorts
of on air radio knowledge (Bruce being an excellent teacher.) When former
station manager John Blankman was called home, an administrative job opened
up and I stepped into it. I have maintained the administrative duties since
then.
Since the inception of "The Vertical Connection" in September 2004, I am now back behind a microphone weekdays from 1-3 pm where I am thrilled to share my love for Jesus through worship and music.
It was in 1984 that the Lord began His good work in me and I put my trust in Him. That's why I love to praise and worship Him and share my love of the Lord with you!
Diane Otto
Ephesians 2:8-10 are the verses that would describe my life. As a young teenager
I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior when I realized it was not my good works
that would get me to heaven, but His grace alone that saved me and that I
was to walk in good works after salvation. Praise Him!
I came to Minnesota from Illinois for college and stayed to teach in a Christian School in Austin, MN. Later I taught Elementary Education classes at a Christian college in NE Wisconsin where I met my husband. We returned to his hometown, International Falls, in 1983-the very year Psalm 99:5 signed on the air! God has been so gracious to allow me to always live within the sound of a Christian radio station.
As a home-school mom, I would set the alarm clock throughout the day so that the children and I could pause and listen to our favorite programs on Psalm 99:5. (And the tape recorder was always ready for Adventures in Odyssey!) I am so thankful to God that He allowed me to join the staff here in 2001 working part-time both on the air and in the office. This fulfilled a high school dream of being on the radio, and a college wish of working as a secretary for a Christian organization. Our God surely gives us the desires of our heart.
